5 Reasons Why Meditation Is Good For You

Through meditation, we can regain control of our minds.

5 Reasons Why Meditation Is Good For YouA lot has been said about meditation these days. More and more people are beginning to realise how good meditation is for them. It has taken me a while.., well actually a LONG while but I have now become one of the advocates of meditation, too! In fact, I only started meditating a year ago on an on-and-off basis. However, the frequency of my meditation has increased this year, so much so that I have decided to meditate for as long as I live!

Another thing to point out is – anyone can meditate. So, I thought I’d just reiterate the reasons why meditation is good for you… So, here you go – all the goodness of meditation listed below:

As you know by now, I meditate every evening before I go to bed. I used to do it every now and then but since late last month, I have made it my personal development goal to fully incorporate this as a habit in my life. I can attest to the fact that meditation helps to reduce stress. It has helped me manage my stress better and I feel that overall I am also less anxious.

Meditation is often useful for quietening the mind. I experience a lot of this because there is a little voice (or sometimes many voices) in my head that would not stop chattering. And more often than not, those natters tend to lean towards the negatives than the positives. So, why let them talk and cause chaos in our minds? That is why meditation is ever so helpful in this case. Through meditation, we can regain control of our minds.

In this day and age when everything moves so quickly, it can be quite challenging to stay focused on one thing at a time. Multi-taking becomes the norm. We become increasingly fickle and there is always a tendency to divide our attention on multiple things at the same time. Therefore, it makes even more sense to meditate as a way of bringing focus and clarity in life.

When you meditate over a period of time, you’d become more aware of your surroundings and people around you. You’d also become more present in your daily interaction with those around you instead of being occupied with your own issues. As a result, your relationships would improve. Meditation can be likened to you putting in a lot TLC in your life…

Meditation is also a good tool that you can use to communicate with your inner self. When you are able to quiet your mind and focus, you will be able to connect with yourself on a deeper level. I personally use meditation for this purpose a lot as I am going through a time of change. When I meditate, I also try to seek full honesty with myself about my feelings on many subjects. I find this really useful and if you haven’t done this already, I strongly encourage you to give it a try.
